Reflecting on the Death of Cory Monteith

Dead at 31. I can’t help but feel my heart sink when I think of this. It’s so easy to get pulled into the “what ifs” of this scenario.

I’ll be the first to admit that I am not a huge fan of Glee. However, you don’t have to be a fan to take notice when someone dies at such a young age.

As of today, we have a cause of death. But do we really? We know the physiological cause of his death, but we don’t know the psychological cause of his death. We likely never will. Then we are left with questions and more questions, which can be overwhelming.

So I do all that I can do when something like this happens. I reflect on my own life. While I am traveling through my life, seeing someone die at such a young age puts things into perspective. Actually, seeing someone die at any age puts things into perspective. I have a lot that I appreciate, yet I need to remember to pay attention to it all. It can move so fast that I forget to notice how the sun feels on my skin, how healthy I feel, and all of the other joys that come with today. And so I slow down, take a deep breath, and enjoy how the air feels in my lungs.
