Knowing Your Vision

Life without a vision can lead to reactivity. Looking at what you have and what you want are the first steps to walking out of an uneasy space. It’s easy to avoid spending time and energy thinking about something that is daunting, but there is a lot of space between being numb and being content, and you can get lost in that space. You will only be able to live an enjoyable life when you have a vision for yourself, what you want, as well as a plan on how to get it.

What does being happy look like for you? What do you want, and why do you want these things in your life? Try to identify the origins of where these desires come from. This will help you know if your current goals are ones that will truly lead you to happy place, or if they are simply short-term reactions to long-term problems.

Finding contentment seems like it would be easier than it actually is. If you are willing to identify the sources of what you see in your personal vision, you can gain knowledge that will help you with your true goals. What do you want for yourself, your relationships, career, etc? Why do you want these things? What is missing from within you, and are they truly address those missing pieces? These answers will help you daily avoid falling into a trap of reactivity, and will also you help you find a sense of personal empowerment.
