About Phillip McCulley
I became a marriage and family therapist because one of my true passions is helping people who are struggling in their relationships, whether that means rediscovering passion, or working through something more difficult. I work with people who are straight and gay, as well as people in non-traditional relationship styles, and I bring the same openness to all of it.
A lot of my work centers on making sure people don’t have to explain or justify who they are before we can get to the actual work. If you’re part of the LGBT community, you won’t need to educate me about your life or convince me you deserve acceptance. That includes the bisexual community specifically, which can sometimes feel invisible even within LGBT spaces, and it includes anyone questioning or transitioning, whether you’re early in that process or well into it. The same goes if you’re polyamorous, non-monogamous, or exploring an open relationship style, that conversation gets the same openness as anything else you bring in.
I also have specialized training in sexual addiction, men’s sexual health, EMDR, and life transitions. I understand the toll addictive behaviors take, and I know that a lot of sexual shame carries history with it, not just the immediate issue in front of us. Whether you’re trying to rebuild trust, work through dysfunction, process trauma, or figure out who you’re becoming in a new phase of life, I don’t expect you to have it sorted into one clean problem before you walk in.
What I work With
Sex and Porn Addiction Therapy
I have specialized training in sexual addiction therapy and experience working with substance abuse issues. I understand the toll addictive behaviors take, and I'll offer a space where you can open up about your struggles and create a plan to manage them, one that helps you rebuild your relationships and reach your goals.
Poly and Consensual Non-Monogamy
I recognize it can be hard to feel like you can be open with your therapist about non-traditional relationship styles. Whether you're interested in swinging, polyamory, or a sexually open relationship, I offer a safe place for that conversation, whether it's the main topic or just part of a bigger picture.
Life Transitions Therapy
I specialize in helping people through transitional periods in their lives. If you're struggling to live out your passion at home or in your career, or you're simply feeling lost, we'll work together to uncover your goals and build a plan to make them real.
EMDR & Trauma Therapy
I have specialized training in EMDR, a powerful tool for moving through traumatic experiences. If you're looking to navigate a traumatic experience, I can help.
Men's Sex Therapy
I have specialized training and experience helping men dealing with sexual dysfunction, whether that's erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, or delayed ejaculation. Together we'll work toward sexual expression that promotes confidence, and through any shame connected to past sexual experiences.
LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy
I specialize in working with the LGBT community, whether you're looking for individual support or help within a relationship. I also work with the bisexual community specifically, which can often feel invisible even within LGBT spaces, you won't need to educate me or work to find acceptance here. If you're transgender, I support you whether you're questioning this part of yourself or need guidance through transition.
Couples and Relationship Therapy
I offer openness to people dealing with a wide range of relationship issues, whether that's rediscovering passion or working through something more difficult. This includes people who are straight and gay, as well as people in non-traditional relationship styles.
